What domain name would a reproductive endocrinologist possibly want to buy off me?

Domain speculation post feature image

As a copywriter and word-nerd, I’ve always loved coming up with domain names. It’s strangely liberating, and it allows me to combine my creativity and love of tools. (Watch this video I recorded back in 2009 to see how – How to come up with a great domain name – even if you’re creatively challenged!)

I do a bit of business and domain naming for my copywriting clients. (For example, I just suggested www.cocklock.com.au for a client who sells male chastity devices.)

And I also do some domain speculation in my spare time. Just for fun. I used to spend a lot of time on it, and had a portfolio of hundreds on Sedo. But I’m too busy for that level of involvement these days.

I still manage to pick up the occasional good domain name when it strikes me, but because I don’t actively promote them, it’s always a surprise when someone approaches me out of the blue with an offer to buy one.

Like this morning, when I received an email from a reproductive endocrinologist in California, asking if I’d be interested in selling.

So what domain did he want?

I can’t remember when, how or why I came up with this one, but it’s always been one of my favourites.

  • fertilitytool.com

I’ll let you know how it goes.

My other domains for sale

Here are the other 3 domains I’m selling at the moment. If you know someone who’d be interested in any of these domains, please let me know. (Or fertilitytool.com; I haven’t sold it yet.)

  • zotbot.com
  • exercisefashion.com
  • pullbabes.com

I wouldn’t say no to a retweet or a Facebook share either… 😉

Do you love domaining too?

I know I’m not alone in this. Nearly every other copywriter I’ve spoken to loves coming up with domain names.

Do you? If so, what tools and systems do you use? Do you actively promote them (e.g. on Sedo) or just sit on them and wait for prospective buyers to come to you? Please comment below…

I love going to domain retailers and just searching weird and different names just for the fun of it...there are some extremely explicit porn site names that haven't been taken up yet! I'd never even thought of marketing the names - is there a sweet earn in doing that?

It's great fun, isn't it? But no, the ROI isn't very good. Professional domainers say the average sell rate is about 2% I think. (Can't remember exactly, but it's somewhere in that vicinity.) I've sold 3, I think. All around the $1k-3k mark, from memory. And I've bought about 200 over the years, I think. Admittedly a lot of them were for businesses I was planning or starting, but still...
